Tyler:  At 3-0 and only 15 years old, Tyler is the future star of the GMA fight team.  He was sick all week and did not have a scheduled bout.  He stepped in to do an exhibition bout with Zack Allen of Altoona PA.  Zack's opponent pulled out at the last minute.

Shane and Don got a little experience when the stepped up to fight an exhibition matche with each other.

Christina Shoemaker won the big rematch with Sho Sho from Pittsburgh by unanimous decision!  These girls had fought to a draw in August!  Christina manage to totally dominate this time around with a steady jab followed by a big leg kick.

Kris Lindsey got by undefeated Erik Spring with a four round split decision.  Despite not being able to move around much with a sore back, Kris decided to step in the ring anyway.  The fight was very close and Kris pulled out the split decision.  Look for these to to fight for a USKA title in Reading the last Saturday in January!

October 25th -- Chambersburg -- American Free Style Open.  In the last tune up event befor the November World Championships in Oralndo.  The GMA team dominated!

Mr. Grant, Adam, Jackie, Alexis, Amanda - October 10th Hamburg Open - Lots of medals 2 grand championships!


October 10 -- Hamburg Open -- Grant's Martial Arts teamed up with Althouse karate and Kickboxing to bring the Karate back to Hamburg and showcase kickboxing and Muay Thai!  Adam, Jackie, Alexis, Amanda, Shane, Donny  and Michael  all placed in all of their respective divisions!  Adam won a forms grand an Alexis won a weapons grand!  Later that night Kris fought and exhibiting match as did Maria and Christina.  All looked great!  Tyler won his 3rd fight by unanimous decision.  He is now 3-0 with 2 ko's.

September 26 -- Jack's Gym Kickboxing -- Kris Lindsey 4 round unanimous decision over Brian D'amato. This was Kris's first muay thai match in a while. Kris dominated on the outside but let D'amato out work him in the clinch.  After 3 rounds the bout was scored a draw in front of D'amato's home town crowd.  A round was added to the bout and Kris left no doubt who won the final round.  Congratulations Kris! 

September 19 -- Nanticoke, PA -- GMA holds it's tournament at a new location!  10 days before the event it was discovered that our tournament which is usually at LCCC was double booked with a volleyball game.  3 days before the event the trophy supplier called to say he would be over 100 medals short!  Despite all this the Fall GMA Open was a huge success. 143 competitors in the new Nanticoke Highschool Gymnasium.  Click here to review the results of the event.

August 2009

August 29 -- Parade and Kickboxing at GMA -- Around 8:30am our students lined up and marched in the annual Kielbasa fest parade.  At 5:00pm 3 new GMA fighters were warming up to defend their home turf in a night of full contact action.  The team went 1-1-1.  Matt Strooser Thomas lost a unanimous decision taking his record to 1-1.  Christina Shoemaker, who was the first female full contact fighter from GMA fought to a Draw agains the game Sho Sho from Pittsburgh.  Tyler Austra move his record to 2-0 with 2 ko's when he stopped Tyler Hanamacher in the first round.  To watch the complete fights, click here.
